Wire Snowflake Pendant

Image
Do you know someone who loves snow?  This snowflake pendant would make a beautiful homemade Christmas gift. As a northerner who has lived in the south now for 12 years, I can honestly say I've had my share of snow, but I do still love it when we have a white Christmas, which we do get here in North Carolina. Pictured above is a beautiful pendant you can learn how to make by watching the video below. Jocelyn D. is a great teacher even if you've never made any wire jewelry.  She is very thorough with her instructions.  If you've never made wire jewelry before, you may want to start with a simpler piece other than the snowflake. In any case if you have some nice soft wire, which you can buy in bulk you wouldn't mind if you made mistakes if you wanted to try this as your first project.  If you click the picture below, you can buy it on line too. Multi-Purpose Wire  The multi-purpose, multi-strand wire pictured above can be purchase at Home Depot or Lowes, or any har...

Glass Nativity Scene Decorations

Image
Okay, so I know that Christmas is coming when it's almost July. lol! I know that may sound crazy, but anyway I always start thinking about making crafty Christmas gifts around this time of year. (Not only that, but when July rolls around I already feel like I better get a move on or I'm going to run out of time!) The nativity scene pictured above was made with vinyl cutouts that were either cut out by the crafter or purchased and glued onto the outside of the glass  mason jar . However, if you wanted to make this nativity scene or ones just like it, you can use the method I will out line below as it may be a little less expensive for you to make a lot more  nativity scene  mason jars to give away as gifts or to decorate your own home at Christmas. I just love  Deco Art paint pens  for many reasons. The paint is so easy to control and you can use them in all areas of your home without worrying about the mess of spilling and pouring paint, cleaning brushes and a...

Stone Fairy House

Image
I don't know what it is about fairy houses that intrigue me, but the one pictured above was so natural and pretty, and when I saw it, I said to myself, "I have to make that!" <<  See the best deals on fairy houses here  >> That's how I know when I want to share something with y'all. I think I really like the look of this fairy house because it's made with pebbles and rocks, and I happen to love the earthiness of rocks. And I love fairies. And when someone puts fairies together with rocks in a piece of art then it, quite simply, rocks, lol! Granted, the house pictured above is fairly elaborate, but I found  directions on how you can make a fairy house  using items you may already have on hand here at this site called The Fairy Garden . The look is similar but it's not quite as intricate.  It looks like a great starter home, lol! Here are some more pictures of beautiful fairy homes.  If you use your imagination you could probably make something j...

Learn How To Make a Beautiful Pendant from Polymer Clay

Image
Did you know that you can make gorgeous jewelry from polymer clay?  It's a fun craft that anyone of any age can do with the right materials. The pendants pictured above can be made using ivory colored Sculpey clay and wildflowers that are found outside. Simply use the natural flower to make the impression in the clay piece that's been molded by hand into a circle shape. Next, bake it in your kitchen oven following the directions on the Sculpey package.  Color in with Sharpie permanent markers and seal with Mod Podge after ink has dried. What about matching earrings to match? Something I love about this craft is that the possibilities are endless, the sky is the limit, and once you make one of these pendants, you just might get addicted to working with polymer clay. I saw this video on Youtube and just had to share it. Sculpey clay comes in a wide variety of colors.  For the pendant in the above video tutorial, you will need small amounts of black, navy, turquoise, and...

How To Paint Flowers on Rocks Using Black Background Method

Image
Picture of my Foxglove rock Painting on rocks can be done in any number of ways. One of my favorite methods for creating realistic looking flowers is to paint the background of the rock in black and using a stencil to apply the design in white paint over the black base paint after it dries. To employ this method, you simply use a wide brush ( foam brushes are probably best ) to apply the black paint on to the rock of your choice. Wait for the black paint to dry thoroughly about 1/2 an hour, and then take your flower stencil and lay it over the black background. Stencil the flowers in white acrylic paint.  It should look something like the picture below when you are finished with this step. This is a picture of my sunflower rock after stenciling the flowers in white paint onto the black background and before coloring it in with acrylic paint pens. Stenciling the design (flowers, fairies, animals, etc.) over the black background with white acylic paint, makes a nice foreground on ...
