Stained Glass Candle Holder - How To Find and Print an Image to Transfer

Image
1. Go to your computer to find pictures that you would like to transfer onto your glass piece simply by typing the word, say perhaps "hummingbird", (or whatever you would like to paint) into your browser, then click on the word "Images" (should be in a list of choices: Web, Shopping, Images, Videos, News, More... on the left hand panel or above) and it will likely bring up many different pictures of hummingbirds. To make the stained glass candle holder below, you would type 'stained glass angels' in your browser, then click 'Images' and so on... 2. Choose a picture you like and think would look good on your glass piece. Left click once on the picture to make it larger. 3. Now hover over the picture and Right click on it. Click 'Save Image As'. You should now see a screen with two white boxes to ask you where you want to save the picture in the top blank white box, the white box below should say JPEG (just computer language for picture). I sav...

Stained Glass Candle Holder Tutorial Using Glass Markers

I love the art of stained glass and decided to try my own version of it. To make the stained glass candle holder you see pictured here, you will need a few things that cost a minimal amount. SUPPLIES :  (You can click any picture below to view more info) - 12" glass candle holder . I purchased mine at Dollar Tree for, guess how much?, you got it a dollar! - Picture of a stained glass scene that you would like to transfer to the glass. Click the following link for instructions on how to find a picture and print one from your computer in the correct size. - Black fine point Sharpie pen - Glass paint pens or glass markers you can purchase at AC Moore. - Oven to bake the glass in once it's been colored in. INSTRUCTIONS : 1.  Cut your picture to fit into the inside of the glass with the printed side facing out so you can trace the lines.  Using Scotch tape, secure the picture to the inside of the glass so it doesn't move around. 2.  Using your black Sharpie, trace th...

Where Can I Find Rocks To Paint On?

Image
Spring flowers I painted on a flat rock Finding rocks to paint on is fairly easy, since rocks are everywhere! Most of the time they are free, too, which in my book, a free canvas is always nice. You can find rocks in many places... beaches, woods, streams and even on the side of the road are among some of the places that come to mind. Wow, would I love it if this beach were nearby! Most towns have a rock yard where they sell rock and slate by the ton to builders and such.  They will most likely have a 'misfit' rock pile filled with rocks and slate that they will sell you for a nominal fee, just ask! How rock is sold by the ton at a rock yard If you're like me, once you start painting on rocks, you will start to see them everywhere you look and start designing them in your mind. I happen to love painting on thinner slate-like rocks like the ones I painted below...

Make a Fairy House...

Image
Here is an adorable fairy house that you can make with some simple supplies.  Here is a link to the site where you can see the specific directions . It is so pretty and doesn't look all that difficult to make, although it does look a little involved.  If my daughters were younger, I would probably make this with them Do you believe in fairies?  Some people do, some don't.  I think I do since their existence has never been disproved. In any case, I love this quote written by a man whose brilliance can not be denied.... Free 14 Day Trial! Keep kids busy all summer with these kid friendly crafts.

Kids Love Painting on Rocks

Image
If you want to find a fun way to spend the day with your kids, try painting rocks. Kids love painting on rocks because they simply can't make a mistake, if they don't like what they paint on a rock, you can simply wash it off and start over. It's a fun way to spend a summer afternoon, or a rainy day for that matter.  Go rock hunting on a nice day, purchase some paints, and set up a little table in your yard, they will have so much fun. You can paint one, too... the sky is the limit to what can be painted on a rock.  Just look at these happy faces... To decide what to paint on your rock, look at the shape.  Round or oval rocks would make adorable ladybugs or minions... And wouldn't Grandma just love the painting below for her garden?  A flatter rock or piece of slate that is wide at the top with a tapering bottom would make a beautiful flower bouquet... This is a rock I painted based on Lin Wellford's book Hand-Painting Flowers on Rocks Halloween is on its way... It...

Make These Wire Beaded Earcuffs

Image
It's really easy to make these gorgeous earcuffs designed by Denise Mathew , I have made a few pair already.  Watch this tutorial and make some for yourself or to give as gifts, they are the latest rage! The sky is the limit on what you can make. I purchased 22 gauge floral craft wire from Michaels (craft store).  It originally was $2.99 and I used a 40% coupon which is always available on line, simply type in Michaels.com and follow the path to their weekly coupon, click on 'print preview' (to get the pic of the ad with the barcode) and the cashier will scan it right on your phone. So for about $2 plus the cost of the beads (which you can also get at Michael's) you can make lots and lots of these stunning earcuffs. Below are pictures the ones that I made following the very tutorial above, they look complicated but are pretty easy to do if you follow the video. Have fun! ***************************************************************************** (Click the pics to lea...
